To move things right? Haul big stuff, tow heavy things, go way off road, right?
Nope. All wrong.
Trucks are for posing. Being able to say you can go farther off road then all of your buddies and then never doing more than a short 14 mph jaunt down the gravel driveway to the house where you bought that couch off craigslist. Then, with your truck and it's immense off roading capabilities and all, you use a trailer to haul the 52 lb futon. Why? Because you have an EFFING SPOILER ON YOUR BEDCOVER YOU ASSHAT.
All day I spotted duallies with bed covers, lowered F-150s on twenny-foes, and to top it all, this. WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE DOING. Why do they spend $40k, $60k, $70k on vehicles with a purpose and then use them to pose. A dually is an immensely capable vehicle, it can essentially tow the world if it wanted to, but no. People decide a 7,000 lb, purpose built, utility vehicle, with it's prehistoric suspension, frame, and engine, is ideal for a daily driver.
My brain....I can't make it work like these people's...it hurts me...

If I buy a Ram SRT-10, I will make it a point to do a burnout nearby you to change your mind. If you renounce such anger, then you get to ride shotgun. If you begrudgingly admit it's cool but still say non "truck" trucks are stupid then you ride in the bed and I do donuts.

Sports cars are for posing. Being able to say you can go faster then all of your buddies and then never doing more than a short 73 mph jaunt down the freeway to work. Then, with your car and it's immense track capabilities and all, you rent another car to go on road trips. Why? Because you have an EFFING TINY GAS TANK AND GET HORRIBLE MILEAGE YOU ASSHAT.
All day I spotted Porsches with dual clutch gearboxes, lowered BMWs, and to top it all, this. WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE DOING. Why do they spend $60k, $70k, $100k on vehicles with a purpose and then use them to pose. A sports car is an immensely capable vehicle, it can essentially go 180 mph if it wanted to, but no. People decide a 3,000 lb, purpose built, race vehicle, with it's stiff suspension, aluminum frame, and high powered engine, is ideal for a daily driver.
My brain....I can't make it work like these people's...it hurts me...

The SRT-10 Ram is purpose built to be insane, and it is. It's bonkers and I love it. Please do multiple burnouts in my driveway while I stand on the roof with an American flag and a tattoo of a bald eagle on my chest.

Stance is for posing. Being able to say your car is on bags and actually using them to lower the car as far as possible......oh wait...I forgot what I was talking about.
But yes, it works for sports cars, minivans, massive SUVs, the lot. Today, however, I saw truck after truck after truck, sparkling clean, lifted, with bed covers and RIMMZZ. It was bugging me so I needed to vent.

I both agree and disagree with you. Isn't everyone who owns a high performance vehicle who doesn't use it on the track more often then the streets by your standards a poser? Some people just enjoy owning a car that can go really fucking fast though they will never use it and some people just enjoy something that can go offroad really well.

Some people also just like diesel engines more then gasoline ones. I find the engine and tuning more interesting and the ones in cars often are made for economy and not performance.

Hey, some of those trucks use very modern suspension setups, frames that are much stronger than "prehistoric" ones, and a lot of tech in the transmissions and engines. Hell, some of the 6 cylinder offerings have similar power to the high-liter V8s of 15 years ago.

Saabs were built to hit moose. How many have you hit?
But in all seriousness, it's their money let them waste it.

It really applies to a wide variety of vehicles. Like I said to Joest, I'm not hating on them for their decision to buy whatever they drive, I just can't understand them.
My dad owned a 2009 Toyota Tundra with the 5.7L V8. Why? He wanted it, and also needed it. In that order too. He wanted something with a good stereo, tons of room, and be able to drive clients around properties to make a sale (he's a real estate developer). He actually used it. No it wasn't off road 24/7 and it was never used to rock crawl, but it did what he needed it to and it was what he wanted.
These people just want what they want and maybe need. I don't know what they do with their trucks, I'm sure they get used, but the spoiler/bedcover is beyond me....

Cargo comes in different forms.
This guy might only haul lumber. In that case, the spoiler is fine.
Not to mention many people like sitting high and don't like SUVs, but do like trucks.
Of course, I generally agree with you. I've seen so many people put huge subwoofer boxes in hatchbacks it's insane

Yes, yes I know. I was ranting mostly because I saw a ridiculous number of the aforementioned trucks and such today and I had to vent.
It's what they want, it's what they like. They can do whatever makes them happy, I will never understand it though. But hey, they don't understand the low sitting euro-wagon.

Stance cars are not normally on bags, they just cut springs and stretched tires with lots of camber.

Bags are for the stanciest of the stance though.

Bags are for people that want their cars to work on the road while still being hellastupid low when parked. Most stance people just want the look but not that kind of investment.

Very true, the smoking tire has a video on bags and how they can be used for real performance gains and give you that hellaflush look when stopped. I'm friends with a kid who actually put some real suspension tuning into his civic SI for autocross and camber was necessary for tight tracks and quick maneuvers so it's stanced but it has a purpose behind it.

Putting camber on a street car is ridiculous. There is no need for it on that kids Honda any more than it needs a 4" exhaust tip or a K&N sticker on the window. It isn't going much faster and will just make the tires wear out faster and the car will tramline on rough roads.

I'm from Texas, trust me I know lol. One day I stayed home from work and I had to pick up my niece from school (3rd grade). Trust me when I tell you dude, out of the near 200 vehicles in line, there was less than 10% cars. Tahoes, Silverado crew cabs, F150 super crews, Expeditions, and beat to shit Escalades and Navigators. Most with some type of flea market 26 inch chrome wheels (bald Chinese tires) and 6000k HID headlamps on during the day. We live in a poor neighborhood mind you. These giant V8 vehicles go from $2500- $8000. We are not the healthiest people also. A $25,000 Fiesta ST or VW Golf is just idiotic to them. It's better if we just leave them alone

That spoiler is installed on a tonneau cover, so as far as oversize cargo being ruled out, it's not really the spoilers fault 100%
I don't own a truck but I think my next purchase will be one. I don't plan on doing any off-roading. I get lots of snow and ice where I live so I'll value the 4WD a lot. My wife is short (5'0") and loves to sit high so there's that aspect. We have lots of empty miles around where I live so I'll need something that has big, wide, comfy seats and lots of stupid goofy storage caverns for drinks, snacks, guns, etc. A nice smooth ride (I'm looking at you coil spring Rams...) is a big benefit.
I have a baby coming soon and if you can't fit the crap a baby requires (stroller, bags, god knows what else) in a truck then you need to pack lighter. Will it fit in my car - sure? But it is easier to just throw it in a truck or work it into the trunk since it only fits just one particular way.
I could get say, an expedition, and have all the same benefits as a truck but what if I do buy a couch? Or an ATV? And what's the price difference between a comparably equipped F150 and Expedition? Or a Ram 1500 and Durango?

I own a 4x4 F150 with brushguard and Hella lights. For me, I actually do use it as a truck fairly often. Help friends move, pick up various large car parts, make dump runs, go down gravel roads to go shooting, stuff like that. I make sure I use it for trucking activities. Otherwise, I'd have bought some econobox car, like a Focus.

Exactly, my dad had a '09 tundra 5.7 crew cab, he used it all the time, be it off roaring, moving stuff, towing lawn equipment between project homes for his business, etc. Then we he sold the homes, finished moving my brothers' stuff from our house to theirs, and sold our lake condo and moved that stuff home with us, he sold it. Driving 25k miles a year and 17-20 mpg average don't go well for the wallet....so he got a 2011 9-5, per my suggestion :P
